Monday, May 31, 2010. 2010 Kinetic Half Ironman Race Results. I know, I know. Was over 2 weeks ago, and here I am just posting my results. It was a long day but I finished. It was a choppy swim, a very windy bike and a long hot run, but a wonderful and well-supported race. Thanks to the support of my wonderful teammates and family for cheering and waiting for me at the finish.

Founded in 2012, the mission of United Athletics is to pair local athletes and individuals who require physical assistance to participate in a variety of events swimming, biking, running, and triathlon races, promoting both social inclusion and fellowship. Four years ago, I found out that something I used to contemplate as a child riding in a car was actually an annual event; once a year hundreds of people swim across the Chesapeake Bay between the spans of the Bay Bridge. Tomorrow morning I drive to Annapolis. Sunday will cap four years of training that also included reconstructive shoulder surgery and more than a year of rehab. My workouts these days no longer even remotely resemble what I used to consider a work.
